That’s a just one picture from Brutus, a full length film entry to the 2008 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival. My sister, Tara Illenberger, wrote and directed it. This year I’m praying that she wins an award at the competition. Last year she had a short film entry entitled Durog.
This is also my husband’s first ever foray into the world of showbiz. He’s one of the producers. He’s an overworked nurse, sick of his job sometimes, and had been thinking of other fields of endeavor. Then my sister’s project came along….Actually he could have been one of the actors if he hadn’t chickened out at the last minute. So now he has to be content with simply seeing his name on the opening credits.
Anyway, if you’re in Manila and have nothing better to do, drop by the CCP (Cultural Center of the Philippines) on July 11-20. For ticket info call 5517930 or 8321125 local 1800.

artista ka man da nga film? angayan ka gid tani kay daw artistahon ka man (read: artehan).. hehehehe.

yeah I read somewhere that foreign film festival reps have been watching the entries so they can choose which ones to bring abroad. napangamuyo ko gid rik nga madala ka.

i remember some guys went to my office and asked if they could shoot one of the scenes for nametz….supposedly for the cinemalaya indie movie… daw wala madayon kay ka dalagko sang wattage sang ila nga mga suga kag cameras…te nag back out ko kay daw basi ma shoot up ang kuryente ko…pero nag donate kami tokens para kuno sa awarding in CCP…..is this the same cinemlaya we’re talking about???

Hi, Kat! How are you, the baby, and d hubby? Huo, that’s the same cinemalaya that my sister joined. And “Namets” is a film by Jay Abello, a Bacolodnon. He also won an award for his film last year. If I’m not mistaken, it’s “Ligaw Liham”. My sister and Fiona Borres(from UPV, remember her?), have a business and he is, I think, a new partner. So, in a way, my sister and fiona are also involved with this film. You can watch a trailer of “Namets” on Youtube.
